Kandys @ KalkaJi

Thats right !!! the name is Kandys & not Candys... But this small liitle pastry shop & Bakery is much more than Candys...If you are coming from the Famous Nehru place market... from The First round about of Kalkaji, take a left & move about 50 meters..On your left hand side, you will find Kandys

Kalkajis very own Pastry Shop cum Cool Hang Out pLace.. One should visit this place in the evening, when young girls & boys from Kalkaji, throng this place for their bit of fun...For them it looks like the safe haven for a safe date, a Local neighbourhood dating joint.........They also have an amazing bakery, which serves some delicious biscuits & brownies & lot of families keep replenishing their stocks of fancy biscuits from Kandys.. Kandy also has quite a range of Snacks & Pastries to Offer..... In Sadwiches they serve – Chicken Plain Sndwich, Chicken Salami Sandwich( This is a Home made kind of Sandwich – with pieces of Chicken Salami placed between Sandwich bread & tonnes of Home Made Mayonaise is applied on the bread) Chicken Grilled Sandwich..... They also serve nice Chicken Chops, which are deep fried & served with Coleslaw......

The Mutton Seekh Roll is my big favourite here ... One Piece if Mutton seekh is placed in a pattice... If you have ever eaten a cream roll, you would know the shape of Roll....In a similar manner, the Mutton Seekh is placed inside the dough..... & baked.. the Oil of the Mutton & the Oil applied for baking, mix perfectly well & leave a beautiful, oily & greasy roll.......The Mutton seekh is pretty fresh & not too spicy...... The Chicken Salaami Sandwich, was too sweet for my liking & tasted a little sweet, because of the excessive mayonnaise.....The Chicken Sandwich is pretty basic....Cold Sandwich with lots of home made Coleslaw – Mayonaise, Cabbage, Carrot, & fresh chicken....... at Rs 30 for a Chicken Sandwich, and Rs 35 for Chicken Salaami Sandwich,,,,,the Prices are reasonable & thats why the students & youngsters flock this place

Kandys also serve the Kathi Rolls, Footlongs, Pizzas, Cutelettes, Burgers, Pattice, Rolls ..... all are reasonably priced.....
Kandys also has a decent range of Pastries for its young patrons..But the main business seemed to be the Hugely Popular biscuits, which seem to be a bigger hit among the Locals.....

Mughlai @ Minars GK-1

One of the Oldest restaurants in Delhi serving the best Mughlai Food.... Minar & Moti Mahal in the Plush GK-1, of Souh Delhi have been the torch bearers of the vintage Mughlai Cusine . Even in Fast Changing times, when tastes, Lifestyles, preference, even eating habits change, Minar has been amazingly consistent in serving the Mughlai & Indian Cuisine

Located very close to one of the exits of the exciting & full of activity, M Block GK -1 market...Once you enter the restaurant, you get a feeling of an almost warm, cosy & comfortable ambience. Lot of families are seated & can be seen enjoying a hearty meal . They also have a Bar & Offer good discounts on the Alcohol- 50% off from Afternoon till 9.30 pm, & 25% - 9.3 pm onwards

For starters we ordered the Chicken Burra full & the Chinese Chilly chicken.... The Burra took almost 25 minutes to come & actually tested our patience, But all i can say, it was worth the wait... The Chicken was perfectly done, the masala of the Burra didn’t seem to strong .... The masala was well spread & absorbed in the meat as well as the Bones.......8 Pieces with Bones was quite a good appetiser .. The Chinese Chilly Paneer was anything Chinese, or anything Chilly, But was quite to my Liking.. The Paneer was deep fried with a nice & mil batter was quite juicy soft to bite , Unlike when you have too much batter on the Paneer & it becomes brittle on frying... This paneer was lightly spiced & very succulent --- Even the Capsicum & Onions were well done

Now time for the Main Course..... Chicken Tikka Masala (Boneless) & Malai Kofta..... The First words that came out of my mouth when i put the first bite of the Tandoori roti dipped with the masala & a small piece of Chicken, was “Oh My God” & this actually says a lot about the taste of the Food, if on the very first bite, You feel so kicked... I have to say, this is the best Chicken Tikka Masala, i have eaten in a long long time......

The Gravy was full of a very thick Onion Coating, with Loads of Butter.. The Gravy was salty because of the thick, cream butter that seemed to have added all the richness to the gravy ..... Also lot of tomatoes, Cream, Garlic, Coriander.. Methi seemed to be a pretty strong flavour as well,,... It was not too spicy, bu  t little salty for my Liking, which i felt could be because of the butter. The Chicken Tikka pieces were again quite tender, soft & quite nicely retained the flavour of the tandoor & bar be que

The Greasy & Delicous Tikka Masala

The Malaai Kofta, was pretty different from the ones you normally have at other Mughlai restaurants.. It was not at all sweet, & again had a thick, creamy & salty flavour thanks to the generous amount of butter being used in preparing the gravy
The Breads again were very noteworthy... The tandoori roti, was pretty light, crisp & thin & the dough seemed amazingly fresh

The ambience is perfect for a good meal with the family, The service was a little slow though....& well the Prices are a Little steep, in comparison to the average portions they serve
Do try their Butter Chicken, Chicken &Mutton Pulao as well

Delhis Nirulas

Nirulas - Speak to any Delihite, who has spent his growing up years in Delhi, about his memories & experience of Nirulas, and you are bound to evoke many emotions. Started Delhis First Fast Food restaurant in Connaught place in 1977... Any body who has grown up in Delhi from the late 1970s, will have great & fond memories of the Nirulas …

For many Delhities, Nirulas would have served as the rendezvous of their first date, for many it would have been a place to impress their Clients, some would have concluded their pre marriage meetings here, Many a school kids have flocked Nirulas after every Exam drenched them of their energies & vigor, just to rejuvenate & come back again, Probably your First big Birthday treat, when especially the Guest List would boast of beautiful girls from School / College , theres a good probability that Nirulas would have hosted many such Birthday treats

Simply because, till late 1990s, if there was anything that gave Delhites, a close look, touch & taste of the ever so enchanting western cuisine, it was Simply Nirulas…. If way back in early 90s, if your ostentatious aunt, would come down from the kanedaa (Canada)…..and worry about their Little kids lack of the favorite junk food, then Nirulas was your only bet to make them feel at home – as this was the only place serving Americas favorite food back then – Burgers, Fries, Foot Longs,Pizzas

Juicy Mutton Burger
Chees Garlic Toast

Well Nirulas has come a very long ways since then & been keeping up & survived against the onslaught of the all Powerful American Chains Like McDonalds, Pizza Hut, KFC – all taking the fast food quick service Restaurants & Indian Consumers eating out experience to the next level

Nirulas has done quite a bit of revamping ever since the entry & meteoric rise of Chains Like McDonalds, Pizza Hut etc… One of the Nice Nirulas Outlet, apart from the Immensely Popular, Connaught Place is the One at East of Kailash . I have been a regular here at the East of Kailash Outlet & have witnessed many a Revamping & renovation, to suit the tastes & moods of the fast changing & emerging Young Indian Consumers Lifestyle

Last Sunday Lunch was a feast at the Nirulas, East of kailash with the family….. The All time hit & Popular Pizza is the Cheese, Capsicum, Onion Pizza .. Basic, Simple but very effective in engaging the taste buds….Its something, your mom can probably cook by now in the Oven….& The Nirulas Pizaa has a nice home made taste …. The Mutton Sausage, again was pretty delightful … pretty different from all Sausage Pizzas ever eaten…Nicely spiced,, The Sausage qty on the pizza looks pretty decent for me, loaded with Plain Cheese .. quite yummy ….. The Mutton Keema Pizza, is also one of the hot favorites among students..I remember, in School days, it used to be my favorite as well .. The Mutton Mince put on the pizza is nicely cooked in spices (Lot of Garlic, Onion, Tomatoes , Garam Masala) & then the mince is placed on the pizza … that’s why the Topping has a nice well cooked spicy flavor….One thing you will realize as you dig into the pizzas, is that the Pizza Base @ Nirulas is one of the best you will get….Even the Regular Pizza base @ Nirulas, is thinner than the Thin Crust Base at some of the MNC pizza Chains , & its also quite crisp & light, unlike the dough filled pizza bases of other chains

The Delicious Indianised Keema Pizza

Chilly Chicken Pizza

The Chicken Chops at Nirulas, again take the Cake….. One Medium to Large piece of Chicken Breast, Golden Deep Fried, & served with fresh home made Coleslaw & a Bread …. The Chicken Chop reminds one of the unique continental flavors, that one associates with English food & Cutlettes…..The Mustard sauce also greatly enhances the taste of the Chicken Chop…I strongly feel that the Mustard sauce , served at Nirulas is one of the best in Delhi, very strong, Pungent, Tangy,,, great to go with Continental & Italian Food

The Chicken Big Boy Burger, is a must must try .. Its divine & also quite heavy & fattening …. Served with Chips & Hashbrown, The Patty is a golden deep fried piece of fine minced chicken, & has all the wonderful continental flavors, nicely spiced served along with a Crisp, Lightly salted Hash brown – makes for a great snack

The Chicken wings, were probably the surprise pack of the meal…. 6 Pieces of chicken wings,,, sauted very fine with a wonderful Bar be Que sauce…. The Bar be Que sauce, has a nice sweet, spicy & tangy flavor, pretty nice & crsip

I have tried the Nirulas Kathi rolls also & was quite impressed .. Perhaps that’s the only item on the menu which is priced at Less than 50/ & is a nice bite …… One Egg beaten on the Bread Roll on the pan,,,,, Topped with Onions, spices & the Chicken Masala filling ,.. served with Onions, an amazing Fresh Mint chutney, the Kathi roll, has an amazing & refreshing taste…..& not too heavy like the Conventioanl Kathi Rolls

Desserts is the forte of Nirulas ---- When it comes to Desserts, Ice creams, very few can match the range, variety & the richness that Nirula offers.. Be it the Hugely Popular Sundaes, Hot Chocolate Fudge, or the Naughty Banana Split, Mango Tango or simply the Scoops in Cup, Cones or Waffles… Nirulas Ice creams are just as relevant & popular as they were 30 years ago.. while the Popularity of Sorbets, Gelatos, Low fat Curds, Ice creams is on the rise, especially with the Health Conscious Young & Old Indian, But a Dash of the Old fashioned 2 Scoops of Rich, Thick, Creamy, made from Full Cream Milk, Ice Cream with Loads of Sugar, Butter & Calories, is always welcome, as you can diet another day

Do try their Indian Cuisine, and Kabab Platters as well . Amazing Range & variety of food

Uncles Restaurant @ Noida Sec 10

This Place has gained immense popularity thanks to many of the offices that throng this market in Noida. HCL being one of the main Organisations with so many of its Offices, spread across Noida . Many a times, during our Month end Operations, we have ordered food from this restaurant, & its been a saviour, serving the most delicious food, that too in quick time

Today i decided to try the food directly at their restaurant at the Sector 10 Market....The restaurant has a nice, Homely, comfortable & cosy kind of feel about it.. It is a 35-40 seater capacity restaurant..The lighting was just perfect.. There was nice light music being played in the background.. Looks to me, That if these guys get the Bar License, this might be a perfect place for a Resto – Bar Thin, where once can have 2-3 drinks, at reasonable prices & have great food too

We Order the Restaurant Favourite Butter Chicken (Boneless) and the Mutton Seekh... Generally for the Ordering at the Office, we have the Butter Chicken(Bones) & Mutton Rogan Josh.... The butter Chicken, is as usual amazingly fresh ... The gravy is just right, It has the right dash of sweetness, along with the perfect richness, thickness of the Butter & Ghee...The flavours of Methi, Tomatoes, Garlic are all pretty strong & dominant in the amazing curry..The Chicken Pieces are actually the pieces of Chicken tikka, which is simmered in this gravy for almost 10 minutes after being prepared separately ....The Mutton Seekh, at Uncles is Probably my bet for the Top 10 Mutton Seekhs, I have eaten in Delhi/NCR .. I am a Mutton Seekh Lover, having eaten this wonderful snack, at quite a few places & i think the Mutton Seekh at Uncles was just brilliant...It has the Right amount of tenderness.....A small bite & some motions of Chew & you are done with the Bite of the sinful kababs.. Unlike Kakaori Kababs, which just melt into the mouth without one having to make any effort & denying you the Cardinal sinful pleasure of digging your teeth into the meat.....The Spices in the Seekh are also just right, with no spice being too strong ... They spice it up with their own home made Chaat Masala, and its just a delicious bite. Even the Naan was quite thin compared to Normal Thick Maida filled Naans & was quite crispy too

A Comfortable Home Like ambience, Great tasting Food, A good Lunch
Do visit whenever you are in Noida next

Red Wok @ Pamposh Enclave

Opened as a modest Take away cum delivery Outlet in th Pamposh Enclave, Community Center Market, Red Wok is fast emerging as quite a Popular Joint for some lip smacking Chinese & Thai Food

For many years, Delhites have some what struggled to find some real good chinese food, which is definitely good quality & not the Punjabi Chinese that our Palates have been so accustomed to eating. On one end, you have the Local Chinese Vans which had mushroomed over the Parts of the City almoist 15-17 years ago, trying to ride on the immense popularity of Chinese food, and completely butchered, & altered the DNA of the food...God , Coriander tadka in Manchurian., But all this came at a very reason able price, but the quality is still a question mark.... At the Other Extreme, Real authentic Chinese restaurants were open mainly part of the Hotels Cusine...Barring a Real Few Good Chinese Restaurants, Like Bercos, Zen in the Legendary Connaught Place, real good authentic Chinese Food in the Capital was the reserve of select few, or you had to be a real road romeo to dig out the best ones..In short wasnt so easy , so one had to make do, with the Punjabi Chinese being dolled out by the Local Colony Vans.....Of Course with the Coming of age of Speciality Restaurants, Like Yo china, Chung Wa, MainLand China

Red Wok, tries to somewhat bridge the Gaop between your Local Colony Chinese Van(which may be reasonably priced but burn your intestines) & the Fine Dine Big Speciality restaurants (which are great quality but will burn your pockets)

Pricing is Little High for a take away but its worth it . Try the Plain Chicken Noodles with Egg....Is delivered in a neat black Box, with neatly wrapped on top. The chicken Noodles are a real delight.. Right spice for me, neither too hot, nor too Oily, and are my personal favourite and I can have them without any gravy. Priced at Rs 120/= The qty is quite a fill & is good for 2 people

The Chicken Manchurian, is also pretty nice, with the Gravy being pretty hot & a dash of sweet.. The manchurians were quite crisp insite of being immersed in the gravy for some time.. Rs 165/ for 7-8 medium pieces of Chiccken was a good serving

The Chilly Chicken gravy, though packed a real punch, but the vegetables were more than even the gravy or the chicken.....Tremendous flavors of garlic, could just smeer through the nostril & raising the appetite just a tad bit more

Red Wok is definitley working its way up & is become quite a Popular Choice for Chinese food for Ordering for House Parties, Small Events or Just a good Dinner with Family

Do try the Chilly Chicken, Chicken Manchurian, Chicken Noodles with Egg

Tundey Kababi@ DaryaGanj, Delhi

Foodie Delite - Tundey Kababi@ DaryaGanj, Delhi

After Serving Lucknow with great love for more than 100 years,Tundey Kababi, has really found a Place in the plate & palate of quite a few Delhites

I went there Last Friday with My Family.... If you are One of those, for whom Fine dining is all about the finest Cutlery, Chilled Air Conditioning, Nice & Chic Upholstery, then Probably ths may not be the place for you, But if you really like to dig your hands deep in some real meal & dont mind licking that finger, This is the right place for you. For the Foodie, its always great to see fellow foodies so up close & personal...

We got the First Table just at the entrance, and the smell of rich Korma Gravy & Biryani, filled my nose as we entered.. The waitor, seemed to have recognised me, thanks to the generous Rs 40 tip i had given him last time.....well straight to the Point, Our Family grabbed the chairs & we sat down for the Culinary Tour that they were to experince for he first time, for me it was the 2nd time & probably many more to go...

We ordered the Restaurant Favourite, 2 plates of Tunde Kababi, with their Spl Paratha., 1 Plate Chicken seekh....Tunde Kababs just seem to melt in the mouth,... being blended with quite a number aromatic spices & herbs, the kababs didnt seem to be very spicy for my taste buds.....The kababs are made in a manner where they are kept on a very slow flame on a Huge Digchee (Or steel Vessel) & Put in an Inclined manner, where the Oil, mixes with the Juice of the Kababas & gives a beautiful flavor to the Kababs....The kababs dont seem to be too oily as well, How well the Oil & Kabab mix, to offer a divine bite

The Paratha, made of maida though, is very soft & a tasty bite....The Chicken Seekh, was pretty Normal...with Coriander being a very strong flavor...Been a Sekh Kabab lover, I have always felt, that the Goat always beets the Chicken , on the seekh....Seekh Kabab Lovers do not consider Chicken seekh much of a match compared to the Rich Lamb Seekh

After 3 Plates of Tunde Kababi, & 1 Plate Chicen Seekh, It was time for some Heavy stuff....The Flavorsome Biryani & the Chicken Kurma....My Favourite Part in the Biryani, surprisingly is the Rice -- Full of flavors of rich spices, saffron, Cardamom, The smell of ghee, the rice grains were completely soaked in all flavors of spices & the meat juices ..It was the normal rice & not the Basmati one, The chicken kurma seemed average fair...with some portion litte uncooked for my liking..... The Mutton biryani, seemed to fair better, with meat little Crisp & nicely flavored

The Chicken Qurma, laden with Ghee, Oil,Saffron, cardamom flavors... had a little tangy flavor in the curry. The challenge of tackling the bones, gives a fair idea of the cooking, more so with the relatively tender bones of chicken as compared to the Lamb...The Chicken Bones seemed to have completely soaked the flavor of the Kurma & it was evident while chewing the bones..

The Firni, or the Kheer as they called it, was not at par with the authentic Phirnis...was too sweet for my taste.

All in All a Hearty meal with the Family ..Moments like these are what make life so special. a good meal wih your family, Your foodie Dad enjoying a nice meal after a long time....mother & wife didnt seem to enjoy much, as they are vegetarians(wife avoids Non veg on some select days of the week-- never understood her choice of days, Vegetarion on Friday Evening is like Insulting the weekends).Do try the Tundey Kababs with Paratha, Chicken Biryani & Korma

BreakFast -The King Meal of the day

Foodie Delights - Break The Fast

Probably for me, its the best meal of the day. Once done with Dinner, thoughts for the morning breakfast rule the mind & the already salvating tongue just wets up a little more......Unlike the Typical Lunch & Dinner, Breakfast is free from the convenional Mould - You just have to be little creative & Any thing goes for this Morning King Meal, unlike Lunch or Dinner, where options seem to be limited.

Just Imagine, You cook up some Pasta for Lunch, It might sound cool to eat though, But your tummy may not get its fill, or it may be too much of flour(maidaa) to digest. Chinese may be too oily for your tase buds.

For the Average household , Lunch/ Dinner seems to be pretty much a Regular fair of Daal,Sabji, Roti, Rice, Curd, Salad etc etc..the Variety of Vegtables & Daal may change, but the basic structure, Look & feel of the meal is the same

But Breafast is different, with Options Galore---- The Big, Crispy Bhatura coming out of the Fry Pan, Serve it with some Spicy Cholley, Onions, Spiced Green Chilly & you are on a Roll.....Just Imagine the Color Gamut, Black Cholley, white Onions, Green Chilly, Golden Yellow Bhatura...Vow Mini rainbow on my plate

The Simply Divine Puri......You can have it Plain with ajwain & salted, Dry aloo subji, Aloo Curry & its just a scintillating affair with the palate. The Stuffed Kachori with Tamarind Chutney can also pack a Punch....

If you are the Heavy Eater Category Like me, you just cant ignore the poultry pack....The Eggs---If variety is the Spice of Life , Then Eggs are really my bet for Spicing up yoru Life...what all variety this beautiful looking, nutrient filled thing lends itself to...Omelettes- (Theres a whole world to what all Omelettes you can make with Egg - Masala, Chese, Chicken, Keema, Spanish), Boiled Eggs(Hard / Soft) , Scrambled Eggs, The all time Classic Egg Bhurji, Half Fried Eggs, Poached Eggs, French Toast....Wuff...I am already feeling bad for not having enough today

You may also make a Power meal out of your breakfast - If you add some more members of the Poultry family - Sausages (Regular, Paprika), Salaami, Some Eggs served with a Cold Glass of Fresh Juice, some Golden Crisp whole wheat brown bread, with a dash of Butter, some aromatic coffee & I am done..... Proteins, Carbo, Vitamins, Fat...... thats a Power Punch breakfast

Parathas- In the Bollywood Flick, "Singh is King" Akshay Kumar commented, that Paratha is the national breakfast of Punjab, Infact it holds true for most of North India... The Paratha still rules the roost for most of the Breakfast tables....
A medium to heavy Paratha cooked in Desi Ghee with Ajwain, Little salt, small Dollop of butter, with a strong cup of meethee Chai, and you are on a Power trip man

The ever Humble Kandha Poha of Maharashtra has made its graceful presence in quite a few household across India, especially the breakfast table.....with every state localising it with their love... The South Indian Snacks are made forbreakfast every fortnight in Our family. Idlis, Upma, Vadas - Aloing with the basic & simple Coconut Tomato Chutney, These snacks have become a hit in quite a lot of households

In Bhopal, Poha with Jalebi as an all time Killer Combo....Rabri- Jalebi in Kanpur..., Bidai Kachori with Lassi in Agra, Cholle Bhature of Delhi

For the Diet Conscious, Milk with Corn Flakes, Dhaliya, Fruits Basket, they all seem to just go so well with the breakfast.... the Original Tiffin King, Bread Butter, Bread Jam are still as popular...Croissants, Hash Brown, for the Exquiste Touch, the breakfast menu just seems to be growing large....

Speaking of the Breakfast Menu, do try the McDonalds Breakfast Menu - The Chicken Sausage Muffin,(The Sausage Pattice is just rightly spiced, not too make the breakfast too spicy & pretty juicy as well )Golden Fried Hashbrown( Have a slight bitter dash at the first bite, But once the aroma & taste of the Hash brown settles down,It just makes the mouth want for more) A Nice & Strong, Cold Coffee to wash this down & you ae set for the Big bad world

The Breakfast list & options seem to be growing strong... & for me definitely is the King Meal for the Day...Till The Time,The World wakes up to the Options & power of a Great BreakFast, Keep Breaking the Fast... Happy Eating

Foodie Delights - Shawarmas@ AlBake

Shawarma - The famous lebanese dish, made hugley popular in Delhi by one of the Pioneers of quality Road side eating in Delhi, Albake at New Friends Colony. You name shawarmas & Probably the first place that comes to mind is Al Bake. Started as a Tiny Little shop, tucked away in one Corner of the Popular New Friends Colony Market, or NFC as its called, Al Bake has 2 restaurants, One is a Very Prominent Mass market eatery & the 2nd something of a mix between mass market & relaxed family dining restaurant

One of the Biggest hits & most Popular Anytime Snack of Al Bake is its Shawarma..I have been a regular at this place since the last 10 years. The ever so exotic lebanese delicacy has been made hugely popular among delhites by Al Bake. The Bread for shawarma is approx- 3.5" dia, with a good mix of juicy Chicken, which is being grilled as a stack.. small chunks of chicken are cut form the stack on to the big Tawa & mixed with a generous does of tomatoes, Coriander, Onions a special masala, Ingredients of which are very closely guarded..The clittering noise of the knife on the Big tawa, also adds to the fun of dolling out this delicacy. The chicken mix is put on the mayonaise coated bread & served with a Home made rich & thick mayonaise dip, along with a Curd & mint chutney to give a Juicy & tasty bite

The Delectable Shawarma with a thick Mayonaise Dip
I have always seen this place heavily crowded, & most people who come to Al Bake, never fail to order the shawarma.. Not being too spicy, it serves as a nice appetiser... Priced at Rs 30, Its a Must try...Students in and around the Jamia Univesrsity, the families at Jamia, Food lovers, throng this place often, to catch a quick snack..I have seen an equal number of shawarmas being packed for delivery as are being sold at the restaurant

Succulent Hyderabadi Mutton Gravy at Al Bake

Other Favourites here - Afghani Chicken, Fried Chicken Nuggets with Chilly sauce, Hyderabadi Biryani, are a must try, If you dont mind to mingle with the masses, or dont mind some the sight of dishes being washed just behing your back, Albake is the place to visit. You may also visit their family restaurant to have a relaxed evening

Saleems@ Kailash Colony

Foodie Delight- Saleems@ Kailash Colony

One of the Oldest & Popular restaurants in Kailash Colony, Saleems famous for its Mughlai & Tandoori Food. My favorite is the Mutton Seekh kabab, Priced at Rs 95. 2 Pieces of Mutton Seekh served with a generous dose of Onions, & a very tangy mint chutney, which is served ice cold, perfect to go with the hot & steamy kababs...The Mutton seekh, is tender, with the right amount of juice, very mildly spiced & doesnt leave any strong flavor. The Tandoori Chicken, again a favorite, rightly spiced & little juicy.. tender... The marination of the Masala, is so pervasive, that you can feel the spices even when you crack chew the bone.

The Afghani Chicken was a big disappointment though, with the marinate being too strong & made the chicken too dry. The Chicken Tikkas are also too bland for my Liking & not juicy enough

The Chicken Biryani at Saleems, probably takes the cake ...served along with a light Curd raita, the biryanis aroma was too much for my nose to handle.. Saffron Cardomom, cloves, Onions, Herbs, was a tantalising smell.. Th chicken seemed to have absorbed all the wonderful spices & the chicken juice & spices seemd to have formed a brilliant coat, which was abrobed well in the chicekn, and didnt seem like any other boiled chicken mixed with Biryani

Saleems also have a special Kashmiri Cusine, Yakhni, Goshtaba...will try next time

The Phirnee rocks as well, Not too sweet, so you may not have too many sweet dreams

"Some people live to eat, Some eat to Live, I am Happy as long as you give me Chicken & meat "

Aslam Meat Shop@New Friends Colony

Foodie Delights @ Aslam Meat Shop

Located in a far remote corner in the Famous New Friends Colony Market in South Delhi, is the Aslam Meat Shop.I have been coming here to buy mutton for the last 10 years or so. Necessity is the mother of Invention & a sense of Enterprise is the essence of Indias millions of Enterprenaurs engaged in the unorganised trade, especialy the street food vendors , which is a Highly unorganised but a very Pouplar business. The small Tandoor stall, Just outside the Alam Meat Shop of NFC is a classic example of that. The Location is just Behind the Very Famous, EGO Cafe. The best Part about this shop, is that they use their shop meat to make the wonderful snacks

The mantra seems to be simple - Selective focus - At any given Time, he has not more than 15-20 Skewers ready & to be put straight on top of the grill, just to ensure everything is fresh & steaming hot

We Typically Order Chicken Tikka , its 5 medium pieces in one plate..The Tikka is very tender, very Juicy, fresh for obviuos reasons, & very nice & mildly spiced. Highly recommended, but for Rs 75 for 5 pieces, price seemed a little high

The Mutton Seekh & Chicken Seekh Kabab seem to be prettyy average fair, with Kababs being little dry for my taste & not too spicy or juicy. The Green Chutney is also not to spicy or salty & is made fresh daily ..however the Onions are generally used sparingly

Mutton Barra is another Favorite - Priced at Rs 150 for 4 Pieces of Mutton, seems little Higher, But the burra was amazingly refreshing to eat.. Normally Mutton on the Tandoor, is never my favorite, But this barra was something else...Tangy tasting & not heavy on spices, it was a tantalising snack

They also serve, Chicken Kurma & Roomali Roti

Kakori Kababs @Alkouser

AlKouser -This Roadside eatery at Malcha Mag, South delhi, is a highly popular place for its legendary Kakori Kebabs. The Place doesnt seem to catch your fancy much, as its a Plain Eat at Roadside & Takeaway kind of a Place.. No Fancy Boards, not much of an elaborate seating as well but the Kakori Kababs, are just simply awesome..The All time Hit, Kakori wrap is 2 Pieces of Kakori kababs, wrapped in a Roomali Roti roll...The Kakori doesnt need a bite, It just melts away in your mouth ...The Roomali roti is very smooth & is almost as silky as the Kababs and forms a fine bite with the kakori... The Cook told me, they use 52 spices which are blended & mixed with the Mutton, to form the mince.... The Kebabs seem to have a slight tangy taste, which may be because of the Jamphal...(which is one of the ingredients that goes in the mix). With as many spices added, I wonder, how the Kakoris are not too strong on the palate & go down so smoothly.. The texture of the Kakbas is again beautiful & is something of a eclectic mix of colors - The Rich Maroon of kebabs, along with the small brown spots that are a result of the grilling . The Mutton & spice mix for the kebabs is roasted for a huge amount oftime ..... This mix is then freshly put on the skewer & ready for the grill

The warp is served with Chutney & Onions, The Chutney doesnt seem to be anything worth talking about. I strongly feel that the accompainments alng with any Main Food dish, play a great role in enhancing the taste of the Food . Eg Sambhar with Dosa, Spicey Hot Dips with Momos . The Chutney at Alkouser, does liitle precious to add or enhance the taste

The Warqi Paratha wrap, with Reshmi Kababs is another favorite here.. The Juicy Kebabs & the Oil soaked parathas.. How well the Oil & meat juice mix & lend great taste to the bite....The Warqi paratha, is a Flaky layered bread with Eggs & milk being mixed in the dough. The Parathas being layered, are crisp on the outer layer soft in the inner side & taste great with the kebabs

"Food & Love can break all bondaries & overcome the Gap, Make merry & go on eating Old Chap"

Famous Restaurant @ Jamia Nagar

There is a Famous Hindi Saying –“Keechad mein Hi Kamal khilta” – Lotus can only grow in mud. This precisely what i found out, when i visited the Famous Restaurant House. Located in the very Busy & heavily crowded by lanes of the Batla House Complex, near Jamia Nagar, South Delhi
The areas near Jamia, Batla House, New Friends Colony are pretty famous for the delectable Non Vegetarian Fare, that too at most affordable prices

The Famous Restaurant at Jamia just proved that Street Food of India, can dole out the most tasty & mouth watering fare compared to its upscale & elite Cuisines being served at restaurants &Hotels. It may lack in ambience & perceived hygiene, But can really pack a punch in the taste
The Restaurant is a Spacious 35-40 seating capacity place. The Owner seemed a friendly & Jolly fellow . He got very excited, when my friend told him, that I am some Big shot Food writer & have written some dozen published articles, How i wish he was true
Our Order Included the Ever popular 2 Plates of Chicken Biryani, 1 Plate of Mutton Korma, 2 quarter chicken Plate
The Chicken Biryani was amazingly different. It was pretty different from all Biryanis I have tasted. There was a mild element of Heeng, along with strong clove flavour. The rice grains were nicely colored & were full. The Rice was dipped & soaking in Oil. The Biryani was so compelling to taste, that i just cudnt resist myself knowing fully well that the excess oil may not be too good for the arteries, But The tongue always prevails. The chicken in the biryani, seemed to have absorbed everything right from the spices to the Oil & was nice, tender & very very juicy. 1 plate of Chicken Biryani with 3 small pieces – for Rs 35 – Inflation , are you listening ??
The Mutton Korma – hmmmm.. No Curry dish can come anywhere close to a real rich korma curry. I have seen different restaurants having different versions to the curry But the authentic one is the real muslim Korma, Probably the one at Kareems is the authentic one
The Gravy was not as thick as its is in the authentic Korma, But was simmering with all the flavours . The Mutton pieces were really soft & didn’t need more than a small touch of the teeth to bite & chew. The Mutton used in the Korma had some extra fat, which probably adds to the flavour of the gravy. At the time the mutton is simmered in the Curry, some fat mixes with the Curry to create such a lovely taste. The Bakharkhani The big, Crisp & bloated roti dipped in the Curry made a tasty bite as well

The Quarter Chicken was just out of the world & i wonder why the world is not aware of such rich tastes that we have. If KFC can conquer the world, Our Quarter Chicken Fry served at the Famous Restaurant, or the small restaurants at New Friends Colony, is for sure a world beater. One really large Piece of Chicken is deep pried in a Big Kadhai..... The Piece is then cut into 4-5 small pieces, some Masala added & serve with Onions & Chutney ......Phew....Mind Blowing.... Each Bite was refreshing, Didnt seem that the pieces would have been kept for marinating probably for 12-14 hours...absolutely fresh, each bite was juicy & Oily..The Chicken was fried in Mustard Oil .When it comes to Serving Deep fried delicacies, Mustard Oil is way ahead of the Modern Refined Oils used now. For health maybe, Refined Oil scores, But when it comes to taste, Mustard Oil definitely adds to the taste. For Rs 50/ the Quarter Chicken seemed a Real Value for Money

All In All, a Mouth watering meal, & an Oil soaked Tongue, But worth the visit

Must Try – Quarter Chicken, Mutton Korma, (Chicken Biryani – if you can manage the Oil)

Wheat Momos @ Brown Sugar

Dont go by the name of the Restaurant, That brown Sugar is a very harmful drug & highly addictive substance is known to most of us, But what people may not know is that this place serves one of the most addictive Momos - The Wheat Momos . Located in a Prime Majestic Corner, at the main Entrance of the Posh Upmarket, M – Block, Greater Kailash- Part 1 Market, is a small Take away snack joint called Brown Sugar

Its been around the market for quite a long time, But it came into light about 6-7 years back when it revived its fortunes with its wheat Momos... I strongly believe that for small to mid sized restaurants & eateries, its all about selective focus. You cant offer everything to everyone, But just ensure that you have one special thing on your menu, which is something you can offer to almost everybody

The Brilliant Momos or Dumplings......
The Shoppers at the Hot and happening M- block GK-1 Market will swear by Brown Sugar & this place has acquired an almost cult Status. The  Momos are made of wheat & are typically light brown in color, unlike the Normal Flour Momos.. The stuffing of the Momos is just simply delicious.... Juicy, Very Tangy, strong flavour of Onions, coriander, Fresh & Pure chicken mince & strong garlic , create a strong punch in the mouth ...

The Dip along with the Momos is equally Potent & can put the Gun Powder chewing Quick Gun Murugan to sleep...Really Hot, spicy , Tangy, its too awesome.

The Hot Hot Dip!!!!

The Momos are kept fresh in the Big Transparent steam Bowls & are freshly steamed for every order. This makes the Momos, moist & soft, a perfect Juicy bite

Priced at Rs 85 for 7 medium pieces of Momos, the Chicken Momos are a healthy snack & a Must try. The Spinach & Corn Momos, Mushroom Momos, Fish Momos , Mutton Momos are also big hits & really make a great snack

They also serve, Fish Fingers with Tartar sauce which i have heard is good. The Chicken Tikka wrap is also a nice spicy roll & served with a strong mint dip & Onions Must Try – Chicken Momos, Mutton Momos, Spinach & Corn Momos, Mushroom Momos, Chicken Tikka wrap

Continental Dhaba@ Kailash Colony

Located in the Prime Kailash Colony Market, Globe restaurant has been an Old hand in Kailash Colony. From making Hot & Fresh Samosas, Pakoraas in the mid 1980s they are now a Complete Take away & Home Delivery Joint specialising in Tandoori & Mughlai Food. Serving with Love seems to their motto. The Owners of the restaurant, 2 Affable brothers take great pride in their business & cook up an interesting chat when ever I visit

It being a Take away joint, I normally order for snacks or quick Bites . My all time favourite at this eatery is the amazing Chicken Roll... The Chicken Roll served here is pretty different from the Rolls one eats at Typical Tandoori Joints. They cook up 4-5 small pieces of fresh chicken with a freshly made thick masala curry.. Lots of Onions, dash of Oil, very strong dose of Garam Masala, Tomato, Coriander & some special masala, and you get a thick rich gravy mix

This is then put inside the Roomali roti... The curry is just perfect to be placed on the Roti & a perfect binding for the roll & curry to hold each other. A too liquid curry would wet the Roomali roti & eventually break the roll, but this curry is just perfect
The Taste of Freshly made Curry with fresh & Juicy chicken is just amazingly refreshing..... The dip served at this place is arguably one of the best dips i have tasted. Fresh pudina chutney, not too salty & very fine taste of pudina lingering in your mouth long after you have had it .. Some restaurants, do add a dose of preservatives in the dips, as the dips have to be made in huge qtys , hence preserving them for longer period requires use of preservatives
But the Dip @Globe Restaurant really seems really fresh, & adds greatly to the taste.. The roll is absolutely juicy in every bite. For Rs 50, The Chicken Roll, is a Must Try
Other Favorites include – Chicken Tandoori, Mutton RoganJosh

Sanjha Chullah @ Kailash Colony

Foodie Delights - Sanjhaa Chullah @ Kailash Colony

If you are a self obsessed foodie & happen to stay in South Delhi, Then Sanjhaa Chullah is one place you ought to know. One of the Oldest Tandoori &Bar Be Que shops in South Delhi . In the earlier days, when the party would warm up late, & you want your bite of fresh & steamy non vegetarian food, after the round of drinks then Sanjhaa chullah used to be the best bet. It was the Late Night foodies favourite place to visit

Started as a small Tandoor shop from a Khokha in the Kailash Colony V egetable market , Sanjhaa Chulha has now grown to be a very Popular fine dining restaurant as well.... & the transformation has been smooth .. There was a time, when Sanjhaa chullah was frequented only by late night drinkers, & in the process had started earning a bad name, But things have taken a dramatic turn. It now boasts of the Original Take away & Home delivery Joint along with the Family restaurant that has been successfully operating since
The Tandoori Dishes are the real hot sellers apart from their indigenous curries. The Seekh rolls are a big hit here . Mutton Seekh Roll – with 2 Pieces of Juicy, tender Mutton Seekh, stuffed on , Delhis Favorite Roomali roti, with spices, Onions & chutney... Served with Vinegar soaked red onions & the dynamite mint chutney, its a real spicy Roll

Tandoori chicken is really succulent, mildly spiced & correct amount of crispness.. In the Curries, The Tawa Seekh Gravy / Tawa Chicken Tikka is a hugely Popular dish & worth trying .. A rich curry of Tomatoes, ginger, garlic & Vinegar, Makes the tawa Seekh a real tangy, spicy gravy dish. It may not be too pleasant the next morning, but for the foodie, everything goes

The real winner & probably the most underrated dish here is the “Methi Chicken” ...... The gracy is a rich curry with los of cream, Dry Fruits, Milk, lots of Methi , tender pieces of Chicken & you get a brilliant, spicy, slight dash of sweet, but an amazing curry to eat. Its one of the most tasty & rich curries I have tasted..Simply awesome

The stuffed Naans, are quite brilliant as well. Especially the Aloo-Paneer mix Naan, quite nice & crisp, with a good flavour of ajwain, a real tasty bite

Must Try – Seekh Rolls , Tandoori Chicken , Tawa Chicken / Tawa Seekh Gravy, Methi Chicken

Desi Burgers@ Fast Trax

Fast Trax has earned an enviable reputation for itself in the Fast growing Fast food , QSR(Quick Service Restaurants) category . Specialising in Burgers, Pastas, Wraps, Salads , This trendy & vibrant outlet seems to have caught on to the fancy of young Delhites. Its First Oulet Opened in the New Friends Colony, Community Centre Market. Spread over 1000 sq feet & on 2 floors, this was one of the most impressive Fast Food Outlets. Vibrant Colours, Positioned it as a youth centric chain, with demo bikes on display in the outlet in one of the sections, Really catchy

Fast Trax is Promoted by the Hind Group, which is one of Indias leading exporter of fresh & Frozen foods in more than 45 countries
Coming to the Menu – the best selling Burger here is the Grilled Chicken Burger - Grilled Chicken Patty, layered with Mint Chutney, Onions & tomato slices & placed between the fresh buns is a real delight. Really juicy, & nice flavour of the Bar be Que & the sauces , really adds to the taste. An Amazing bite for Rs 35/=

The California Burger- It just reminds you of the Good Old days, of Home grown Indian restaurants – Nirulas, Wimpys & Long before foreign chains took over. Tossed in the Bun with Home Made Mayonaise, Lettuce, really Pungent mustard sauce & Phew !!!! what a desi bite . The Patty is very crunchy is really deep fried for that divine Home made kind of a taste...& its not too heavy on the tummy as well

Chicken Don is a smaller more desi flavor patty, with onions & tomatoes & some mayonnaise. The Chicken Patty is again deep fried & is very crispy & crunchy – for Rs 27/= its worth a bite

The Arabian Lamb Burger is again a favourite here among the crowd, But not my personal favourite though, as the lamb is not too done for my liking. The Chicken Shammi Kabab is another light & tasty snack . 4 Pices of Mutton Shammi Kabab for Rs 50 is a really good meal, The shammis are nicely fried on the Pan are crispy & have the authentic taste & not some Fast Food Kind of kebabs. The mince nicely holds the flavour – Cardamom, Clove etc being the prominent flavours

The Wraps again are the hot favourite, especially the Chicken Tikka wrap. 4-5 nice juicy pieces of Chicken wrapped in a Flour Paratha, is really a heavy bite & quite a fill
Fast Trax is living upto its name & on the Fast Trax with its footprint now in 22 outlets in the country

Thai Food@Culiniare, GK-2

This Place serves probably one of the best Thai Food in the most beautiful settings. The Perfect Place for a Nice & quite dinner with Family, Friends , Spouse or your Girlfriend . Located just a stones throw from the Happening GK-2 market, In the Corner is this beautiful Open Space restaurant

Open Air seating just adds the extra Charm
The first thing you notice here is how the owner of the restaurant, a smart Looking elderly gentleman, greets his customers & remains in the thick of the action during the entire evening. The seating at the restaurant is a nice, comfortable, no frills kind of a seating & the perfect ambience for a Good Chit Chat, with no Music to disturb that nice conversation

For starters, The Chicken Satay is a very healthy bite. Tender Pieces of chicken are grilled and served with an amazing dip of Peanut sauce. The Chicken is nicely grilled & is reasonably juicy & mildly spiced, Just to get the appetite ready

Crisp Chicken LollyPops

The Chicken Larb Salad is another winner. Lightly steamed & mildly Flavoured chicken is Tossed with some sprouts, fresh basil, Lime Juice , Vegetables to make this tasty salad. The taste is slightly pungent, Little sour & really fresh thanks to the basil leaves
Chicken Dimsums, are again very nicely flavoured, with no flavour being too strong. You feel the flavour of light steamed chicken, with mild spices, and the dips do the trick. My recommendation is the Sweet Schwezwan Dip, which they serve. Sweet & hot, its really worth a try

The Dimsums are yummy...The Sweet Schezwan is too die for

The Thai Yellow Curry is the Hot favourite in the restaurant. Served with a bowl of Steamed rice, the Yellow Curry is the perfect meal after a really tiring day. Coconut milk lends the richness & the viscosity to the amazing curry. The strong flavour of Fresh lemongrass adds to the mesmerising aroma, Basil leaves just add the zing to the curry ..and Vow what a meal you get ....Highly recommended especially after a hard days work, It will be refreshing

The Refreshing Yellow Curry
The Chicken Donor Kababs are also quite popular on the Menu. Culiniare doesn’t use any MsG ... Ageeno Motto which is a very key ingredient in the Chinese & Thai food
The Caramel Custard also is quite a Hit here

Must Try – Yellow Chicken Curry with Rice, Chicken Satay, Donor Kabab

Vikram Parantha Wala

Located just behind the Very Busy Andrew Ganj Flyover & Opposite the Vikram Hotel, Lajpat Nagar IV is the famous Parantha wala ... Located at One of the Corners this is Probably one Of the Oldest Places serving Paranthas in South Delhi. In the Night when one is driving from Defence Colony, the Strong Flavours of the Vaporised Oil would reach your nostrils just when you reach the Andrews Gunj Flyover. Another reason for this being so Popular, is that this place used to be serving Fresh, Piping hot Parantha till 3 am in the Morning, when the Young Delhi Pub hoppers, after spending their Moolah on the Fancy drinks, Discos, waned to grab something to fill their belly... Having personally witnessed many Party Hoppers, polishing off a hearty meal, But that was then

They serve a variety of Paranthas , namely Aloo, Aloo-Pyaaz, Gobhi, Paneer, Daal & Andaa Paranthas .. Andaa Parantha is the Most Popular here .... . A half done Parantha with aloo stuffing inside is placed on the Big Tawa, a generous splash of Oil is thrown on the Paranthas & you see the flaming up from the spot on the tawa where the oil is splashed .. The top Cover of the Parantha is just slightly slit. The Egg is then Poured inside the Parantha through this slit, & then pressed gently on the tawa for a while .. Served with a green chilly achaar & masala sprinkled on Top... The Parantha is really thick with a decent aloo stuffing inside which is not too spicy... The Crispness of Parantha is just right & you ca really feel the taste of nice Non spicy Omelette inside the Parantha . Quite a heavy bite, I must say considering the Oil thats gone in making it

Next i try the Gobhi Parantha, which again is a Typical North Indian Favourite.. The Gobhi used in the stuffed Paratha is generally the Cauliflower ... The Stuffing is quite nice & generous, very mildly spiced so one can taste the flavour of cauliflower as well, quite nice . I actually Liked the Gobhi Parantha much better than the All Time Hit, Andaa Parantha

2 Heavy Paranthas with 2 hot steamy Cups of Ginger tea for Rs 45...is quite a steal of a meal.. Visit for the experience as well

Shyam Sweets @ Chaavari Bazar

Just a stones throw from the Magnificent Jama Masjid of Old Delhi is located the Famous Chaavari Bazaar. There is still a very strong Old world Charm of Delhi associated with this Place. While the booming Satellite towns of NCR may be the epitome of a rapid urbanisation & development, the areas of Old Delhi still manage to retain their rustic charms,so reminiscent of the Good Old Dilli 6...I took a Cycle Rickshaw ride with my friend from Dariya Ganj to Chaavari Bazaar....The Ride was equally fascinating, passing through the bylanes of Old Delhi seeing the Old shops, Old Guest Houses of Dariya Ganj, The early morning Rush at Jama Masjid, was quite a site.. It took 20 Minutes to reach the Famous Shyam Sweets at Chaavari Bazaar... I must say, was really amazed at the stamina of the the Rickshaw Puller, carrying the Load of 2 People , and me being one of them, really calls for some strength... Thats what Delhi is famous for, Its indigenous mode of transport , The rickshaw
We reached Shyam Sweets at 7.30 am. & was quite surprised to see the rush present there for the breakfast....We Ordered the Breakfast Special- Bedmi Puri Nagoori Halwa ... Bedmi Puri, is a very favourite delicacy in Northern parts of the country especially Delhi, UP....Its made out of a mix, having lentils, spices , red chilli powder mixed with the Special Flour used to make the Puri... The Puris surprisingly do not absorb much oil, & one doesn’t feel too oily having them.. The Aloo Subzee, is really Hot & Spicy....with a very strong flavour of heeng & pretty Oily as well...

The Nagori Puri is a very different snack, something never had before. 5-6 pieces of small Crisp Puri, are put on top of the Sujhi halwa, & served with Aloo Subzi & Seetafal Subzi.. The Halwa is very refreshing, not too sweet. The Puris are really nice & crisp.... Seetafal subzi is pretty tangy, spicy & little oily as well .......The Puri is supposed to be had with all the 3 servings of Halwa, Seetfal subzi & the Hot & spicy Aloo subzi...& quite a tasty, crispy bite....The Bedmi Kachori, seemed just ok & went well with the Aloo Subzi. We wash it down with a Nice Lassi served in a Kullad... The Lassi has just the right amount of sweetness & malaai

With Breakfast for 2 people costing 100 /=, its quite a Bite .Do visit when you are in mood for a really Spicy breakfast... Dont forget to take the rickshaw ride, It will definitely add to the experience

Breakfast @ Andhra Bhawan

Located on the Famous Ashoka Road, Near Connaught place is the Andhra Bhawan Canteen...Its quite a Popular eatery for Hyderabadi Food & some nice South Indian Snacks
Breakfast starts at 7.00 am in the Morning & goes on till 10.00 pm. One can see the quite a lot of early morning walkers, coming to Andhra Bhawan to have their breakfast. The seating Capacity will be around 40-45 people & looks quite spacious even at Full capacity.. The Menu is limited, probably helps in Having a Low number of Items on the Menu ,as the Turnaround time can be much faster
We Order for 2 Breakfast Menus . Its generally a Fixed Fair, with 1 Piece each of Masala Dosa, Idli & Vada.. The Service is quite Prompt as we get the Idli & Vada in under 3 Minutes..Served along with Sambhar & Coconut Chutney.... The Sambhar, was pretty unusual from what I have had.. It was very mild compared to the Hot & spicy Sambhar, which one gets at Other restaurants.. It tasted more like a Mildly Spiced Daal, with Coriander being a Very Prominent flavour in the Sambhar.
The Idli was quite dry for my liking & lacked the Freshness . The Vada was lightly spiced, hot & crisp, & quite nice to eat...
Masala Dosa, was actually smaller than the Normal Dosas. The Aloo & Pyaaz Filling inside the Dosa seemed Pretty generous for the size of the Dosa
Filter Coffee was very very strong & was not Hot enough... If you Like your Coffees to be steaming Hot, then the Coffee at Andhra Bhavan disappoints...Reheating , does alter the taste of the beverage & its unlikely to taste the same as when made fresh
For Rs 50for a Breakfast, which Includes the Coffee, its worth an Experience once. Do Visit at Lunch Time, have heard the Hyderabad Dum Biryani rocks

Rajinder ka Dhaaba - Safdarjang Market

One of Delhis Very Popular & Favourite eatery for amazing non Vegetarian Food...Rajinder Ka Dhaaba....It is pretty Different from the Dhaabas which you se on the Highways , but retains the essence of Dhaaba Food, Great Taste, Fresh Food & affordable pricing

Located in the DDA market of the very Famous Safdarjang Market, & just behind the then Very Famous Kamal Cinemas.... Opened almost 35 years ago from very humble beginnings, Rajinder ka Dhaaba ,has really come a long way ... with a slew of restaurants being operated under the Brand Name – Rajinder. They have a Family Fine Dining Restaurant. A Chinese Restaurant cum take away (Rajinder Express)

The Original Dhaaba serves the Take aways & is an Open Air kind of standing arrangement. Customers line up in their cars waiting to grab a bite of the lip smacking food. They don’t even mind standing in long ques, getting sweaty & waiting to go at the awesome food...Its mostly a Self Service kind of arrangement at the Takeaway, where you have to get the food from the counter & grab any place you can get to stand & have the food.... It specialises in Both Mughlai & Tandoori food... Over the years, the have also achieved an expertise in the Fried Snacks, Fried Chicken, Seekh Kabab & Egg Pakora being a favourite.. where a Boiled Egg, marinated with a thick basin coat is deep fried in Oil ...Its quite a speciality here....

The Mutton Korma, is just unbelievable.....I have to rate it as the Top 5 Mutton Kormas i have ever eaten.... The Gravy is a rich, thick Dark Brown chocolate color gravy....Its absolutely divine & simmering with the fantastic spices & aroma.....Cardamom, Cinamon, Saffron, Ginger,Garlic, Rich paste of Onions & Tomatoes, all the Ingredients have given a great taste to the gravy.. The Mutton is absolutely soft, succulent & has nicely absorbed all the wonderful spices of the gravy... Its best to have it with Roomali Roti, as the ghee or Butter in the Paratha may take away the great taste of the Curry...The curry is not at all heavy or oily, unlike the normal Korma Gravies. For Rs 100 – 3 pieces of Mutton Korma is quite reasonable

The Seekh Kababs at Rajinder ka Dhaaba are my all time favourite... Even f I don’t want to have a full meal, a plate of Seekh Kabab is a great appetiser for me... A Plate has 4 Pieces of the Seekh Kabab, served with Onions, Spicy Green Chutney & to be had with Roomali Roti

The Seekh Kababs are to die for & the Tikkas...mmmmm

The Kababs are deep fried & retain the Juice... Very strong Garlic flavour just enhances the taste & are simply divine.. I have been eating here for last 10 years & the taste has remain unchanged & evokes the same pleasures every time you take a bite... Long Live Rajinder ka Dhaaba.. They have recently Opened a Trendy Restaurant Cum Bar Called RDX

Its a Labour of  Love

Its a Must Visit , Dont forget to Try the Seekh Kababs, Mutton Korma, Egg Pakoras

Deepu Bhaiya- Old Rajindar Nagar

Located just behind the City Center Hospital, at Old Rajinder Nagar, is now a very famous Food Street , with 5 small take away restaurants operating out of this small backlane. Serving everything from Sandwiches, Burgers, Kathi Rolls, Egg Rolls, Tandoori Rolls. The Place is thronged by the young sudents of the Old Rajinder Nagar, Patel Nagar & Karol Bagh area as well.... One of the Harbingers of this food revolution in this place is the Famous Deepu Bhaiya Joint ... It is basically a Kiryana store, just at the backlane of the City Center Hospital...

Owned by a Local Punjabi, Deepu Bhaiya, this Joint serves some of the most Lip smacking Kabab Sandwiches, Kathi Rolls & Burgers....The Sandwich is the Biggest hit & an absolute calorie loader of a meal.....3 Slices of the Sandwich Bread are use to make this meal...The First layer has a thick & rich coating of Mayonasie & Chicken Seekh kabab pieces.....The 2nd Layer of the Sandwich has a Nice & Creamy Cheese Slice, Sekh Kabab & little mayonnaise.. The Sandwich is Toasted on a Pan, which is greased with Butter & the sandwich is almost sauted in the delicious butter ......

An absolutely divine sandwich & a taste beyond description...Thats what sometimes, a Simple looking meal served with great love can do ....Deepu Bhaiya seems to be a Favourite with the Young Kids here, & is quite a strange, weird & Funny guy- Just the variety Young kids Like..He also acts as an Agony Uncle to most kids here...The Chicken Kababs used in the Sandwich, or the Burgers, Kathi Rolls, is the Packaged frozen variety . But from the taste one can easily tell, that the kababs used in the Sandwiches are absolutely fresh, nicely spiced & of top quality .. The taste of the Kababs with the fresh mayonnaise & the richness of Butter & Cheese, the Combo is just delectable..For Rs 75/= and that too at a takeaway joint, the sandwich looks expensive, But it is worth every bite every penny & every effort that one has to make to go all the way to Old Rajinder Nagar to have this

The Kathi Roll – is quite light in Comparison..when 2 pieces of Kababs are slightly sauted with some onions, some tangy ketchup & put on a Roomali roti...
To wash down this Amazing Snack, there is a nice Jeera Drink which is again a big hit amongst tudents ¬ available in most pats of Delhi

Do try when you are in Karol Bagh, Patel Nagar, Rajindar Nagar. It will be worth the visit
