Shyam Sweets @ Chaavari Bazar

Just a stones throw from the Magnificent Jama Masjid of Old Delhi is located the Famous Chaavari Bazaar. There is still a very strong Old world Charm of Delhi associated with this Place. While the booming Satellite towns of NCR may be the epitome of a rapid urbanisation & development, the areas of Old Delhi still manage to retain their rustic charms,so reminiscent of the Good Old Dilli 6...I took a Cycle Rickshaw ride with my friend from Dariya Ganj to Chaavari Bazaar....The Ride was equally fascinating, passing through the bylanes of Old Delhi seeing the Old shops, Old Guest Houses of Dariya Ganj, The early morning Rush at Jama Masjid, was quite a site.. It took 20 Minutes to reach the Famous Shyam Sweets at Chaavari Bazaar... I must say, was really amazed at the stamina of the the Rickshaw Puller, carrying the Load of 2 People , and me being one of them, really calls for some strength... Thats what Delhi is famous for, Its indigenous mode of transport , The rickshaw
We reached Shyam Sweets at 7.30 am. & was quite surprised to see the rush present there for the breakfast....We Ordered the Breakfast Special- Bedmi Puri Nagoori Halwa ... Bedmi Puri, is a very favourite delicacy in Northern parts of the country especially Delhi, UP....Its made out of a mix, having lentils, spices , red chilli powder mixed with the Special Flour used to make the Puri... The Puris surprisingly do not absorb much oil, & one doesn’t feel too oily having them.. The Aloo Subzee, is really Hot & Spicy....with a very strong flavour of heeng & pretty Oily as well...

The Nagori Puri is a very different snack, something never had before. 5-6 pieces of small Crisp Puri, are put on top of the Sujhi halwa, & served with Aloo Subzi & Seetafal Subzi.. The Halwa is very refreshing, not too sweet. The Puris are really nice & crisp.... Seetafal subzi is pretty tangy, spicy & little oily as well .......The Puri is supposed to be had with all the 3 servings of Halwa, Seetfal subzi & the Hot & spicy Aloo subzi...& quite a tasty, crispy bite....The Bedmi Kachori, seemed just ok & went well with the Aloo Subzi. We wash it down with a Nice Lassi served in a Kullad... The Lassi has just the right amount of sweetness & malaai

With Breakfast for 2 people costing 100 /=, its quite a Bite .Do visit when you are in mood for a really Spicy breakfast... Dont forget to take the rickshaw ride, It will definitely add to the experience
